Any little bit helps

Become a Foster Care Provider

If you can provide a loving, temporary home for pets in need, please consider becoming a foster for the shelter, for FFOCAS, or for another area rescue. The shelter is always looking for fosters—especially for kittens and big dogs.
Interested? Contact Brandy Odin

FFOCAS is in need of fosters willing to help kitties who often fall through the cracks or take longer to adopt out, such as senior cats or those who need more TLC than the shelter can provide. If you’d like to help these “undercats,” please email us.

Many other wonderful rescues in the area are in need of fosters too, and many of them take in (“pull”) animals from the Frederick shelter—find one that is a good fit for you!

Volunteer to Help Homeless Pets

If you’d like to volunteer at the shelter, working directly with animals, contact volunteer coordinator Shawn Snyder

Shelter pets benefit from interactions with volunteers and shelter staff can use the help with chores, but this must be balanced by the benefits (realized during the pandemic) of having fewer people in the building. So please understand that the shelter is limiting the number of volunteers in attempt to balance costs and benefits for the animals. By limiting numbers of volunteers (and requiring adopters to make appointments), stress is greatly reduced for shelter animals; this helps minimize the risk of both health and behavior issues.

If you’d like to volunteer with FFOCAS, we could use the help! We are always looking for people who can see what needs to be done and do it with minimal instruction, whether that’s grant writing, fundraising, or planning and implementing events. If this sounds like you, please email us.
